of the modal verb “would”.

First, let’s remember what a modal verb is.

meanings and functions. Here are some common uses of 'would,' such as like or love.

Emily: Just bring yourself and maybe a board game if you would like. We'll have
everything else covered.

Tom: Awesome, I'll bring my favorite game then. Thanks for inviting me!
Emily: Of course! Oh, by the way, would your sister like to come as well? We'd be
happy to have her.
Tom: I think she would, but she mentioned she might have to work that evening. Can
she let you know by Thursday?
Emily: That would be fine. Just tell her to give me a call whenever she can.
Tom: Will do. And how about Paul? Would he be coming?
Emily: He would have loved to, but he already made plans to visit his family this
weekend.
Tom: That's too bad. It would have been nice to see him. Well, see you on Saturday
then!
Emily: Yes, see you on Saturday! Thanks for accepting the invitation. Have a good
day!
Tom: You too, Emily. Take care
