Standards
C. Learning
Competencies / 1. Identify the difference between the three-way and four-way switch in a wire connection;
Objectives 2. Understand the connection of three-way and four-way switch with GF
3. Value the use of a schematic diagram in a wiring connection

II. CONTENT Installing lamps controlled by 3 and 4-way switches with GFCI in accordance with PEC

Resources
IV. PROCEDURES The teacher is able to perform the following routine activities:

A. Preliminary A. Prayer
Activities B. Checking of attendance

B. Developing
The teacher ask the student about Installing lamps controlled by 3 and 4-way switches with GFCI in
Activities
accordance with PEC
Motivation
C. Establishing
Purpose for the It covers the knowledge and skills and attitude required in preparing electrical wiring plan and estimate
Lesson needed materials for the job. This module consists of Learning Outcomes (LO’s) that contain learning
activities for both knowledge and skills supported with information sheets, activity sheets and self-
checked. Before attempting to perform the manual exercises, make sure that you have already read
and understood the information/activity sheet and answered correctly the self-checked provided in the
Learning Activities.

D. Presenting
Examples/instance GFCI’s are generally installed where electrical circuits may get into contact with water. They are most
s of the new lesson. frequently found in kitchens, bathrooms, laundry rooms and etc.

THREE-WAY SWITCH

Three-way switches have three terminals (in addition to a ground terminal) and can control one fixture
from two locations. Because it's always paired with a second switch, its toggle is not marked on or off.
Often found in stairwells or long hallways, three-way switches mean you don't have to walk in the dark
to find a switch

FOUR-WAY SWITCH

A four-way switch is similar to a three-way, except it has four terminals (plus a ground terminal) and
controls one fixture from three locations. This type of switch must be combined between two three-way
switches to form a circuit. This is a good option for large rooms with several entrances

E. Discussing New
Concepts and
Practicing New Skill THREE-WAY AND FOUR-WAY SWITCH WITH GFCI

Based on the report of BFP, one of the causes of fire in our country is faulty electrical connections. The
fire and electric shocks can be prevented by the use of Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter (GFCI). A
ground fault circuit interrupter (GFCI) can help prevent electrocution. If a person’s body starts to
receive a shock, the GFCI senses this and cuts off the power before injury occurs.

1. Activity
Draw the different electrical symbols and their description?

2. Analysis
Switches are very important in our lives. Switches are used to connect and break the flow of
connectivity. The three-way and four-way switch is almost the same. These are used in combinations
of two switches to control lighting from two locations in most circumstances.

3. Abstraction
Why we need to know how to install lamp controlled by three-way switch with ground-fault current
interruptor in accordance to Philippine electrical code?

B. Evaluating
learning
Install two lamps controlled by using three-way switch and four way switch.

C. Agreement
Assignment Research about NEC PROVISIONS ON INSTALLING WIRING DEVICES
VI. REMARKS
VII. REFLECTION
A. No. of
learners who
earned 80% on
the formative
assessment
B. No. of
learners who
require additional
activities for
remediation.
C. Did the remedial
lessons work?
No. of learners
who have caught
up with the
lesson.
D. No. of learners
who continue to
require
remediation
E. Which of
my teaching
strategies worked
well? Why did
these work?
F.What difficulties
did I encounter
which my
principal or
supervisor can
help me solve?
G. What innovation
or localized
materials did I
use/discover
which I wish to
share with other
teachers?
