    THE STORY OF THE AGED

    MOTHER
    ( A Japanese Folktale)
     The aged mother- the main
    character of the story, who has the
    wisdom that brings to save and
    benefited their land.

    CHARACTE  The young farmer- the son of the


    RS aged mother.
     The Daimyo- the despotic
    leader/ruler of Shinano but later on
    he learned to give importance to the
    old folks.
    Shinano at the foot of the
    SETTING mountain.
    A mother’s love is something
    that no one can explain. It is
    made of deep devotion and
    sacrifice and pain, it is endless
    THEME
    and unselfish.
    Mother and son relationship.
    Valuing and respecting the old.
     Everything has its use on Earth. No
    matter how small, how old, or how
    simple something may seem to be,
    MORAL it has its own purpose and can
    LESSON contribute for the benefit of the
    greater good. It shows that no one
    should be ignored.
     Even though our parents grew old,
    it is not a reason to abandon them.
    MORAL We should take care of our parents
    for the rest of their lives.
    LESSON  Our elders should not be taken for
    granted, we must cherish them
    while they are still around.
    Love and wisdom. Mother’s
    MORAL love is nothing can compare
    LESSON nor measured; it is pure and
    unselfish.
     Man Vs.Man

    CONFLI The only antagonist in the story


    was the daimyo who proclaimed a
    CT law to immediately kill all the aged
    people.
    What is the Its all about how great the

    What was the
    well-known “with the crown of snow,
    saying stated in there cometh a wisdom”
    the story?
     “Crown of snow” is pertaining to the elders,
    emphasizes the importance of them in shaping
    our society.
     The word “there cometh a wisdom” explained
    that as we get old our everyday experiences
    makes us wit and as we commit mistakes,
    learning comes. The old folks who undergone
    on the different challenges in life and had
    survive serves as our guiding path because their
    varied experiences teach us to become wise;
    wise enough to know right from wrong.
     Our mother is our first teacher in
    life. They are there since we’re
    infant until now to support and
    teach us about what good and right.
    PROJECT As celebrating the Teacher’s
     Month, make a card/letter that tells
    how thankful and grateful you are
    to your mother. Make sure that it is
    well-written and organized.
