Density:
• Density is a measure of the amount of matter
that is present in a certain volume of it.
• Equation to calculate density:
Density=Mass/Volume.
• Basic SI unit = divide mass by volume so
kg/m³ - pronounced kilogram per meter cubed.
• When small amounts are used - density often
measured in grams + volumes in cubic
centimeters giving a density value in gm/cm³.
• To convert g/cm³ to kg/m³, x1000. (3=0’s
move “.” 3x)
• Example: Ice density 0.920g/cm³ → 0.920 x
1000 = 920kg/m³
