MOREHEAD, Ky. -- Despite another close battle, Morehead State Rifle fell short to the UT Martin Skyhawks in the Eagles' home opener Friday. 

The Skyhawks out-shot the Eagles 4662-4654. Morehead State bested UTM in Air Rifle 2348-2342, but the visitors had already gained too great of a cushion to overcome in Smallbore, winning that gun 2320-2306.

Although he was not among the counters, freshman Trey Myers had his best day ever on the Air Rifle range, shooting a match and career-high 594. Junior Hayden Bell led the lineup in Air, firing a 590. Junior Adrianna Beard (587), freshman Haven Eastman (586) and freshman George Kuhne (585) followed right behind in the score column.

Freshman Victoria Koenig was also not in the counters but fired a solid 584 in Air.

In Smallbore, Kuhne topped the counters with a 582. Freshman Chloe Shannon followed suit with a 577. Myers (574), Bell (573) and Beard (573) rounded out the squad list.
