STATEMENT OF PURPOSE

I am Sadia Afrin Omar, a young, dedicated, honest, independent and a strong determined
person targeting my aim with full sense of responsibility. I am a permanent resident of
Bangladesh and residing in Dhaka. I was born on 17th December, 1990 at Dhaka. In my in-laws
family we are just four members; my father-in-law is a businessman he is the owner of
Cosmopolitan Construction which is an export, import, builders and supplier Construction
Company. Which specially deals with city roads, streets, construction of buildings and
residential buildings. His monthly income is around 2 lakh BDT and annual income is more than
20 lakh BDT. My mother-in-law is a house maker. My husband has completed his MBA and
now he is involved in our family business as a manager. We got married in the year 2015 on
12th June. My father is a retired person he worked as an accountant in Dhaka Electric Supply
Authority for 34 years. The house right now they are living is cost for 4 crore BDT where land
value is 1.77 Crore BDT and it’s a seven storied building. His per month income is 60,000 BDT
(house rent) after deducting all the maintenance of house. My mother is a housewife. We are
five sisters my 2nd sister is doing honors in Finance and Banking from Dhaka City College and
my 3rd sister is doing Computer Science and Engineering from American International
University-Bangladesh (AIUB) and my other 2 younger sisters are in the same class in class ten
studding in Agrani School and College.

I have completed my schooling (SSC) from Agrani School and College in the year 2005 with
the GPA 4.50. I started my SSC period from 2003 to 2005 and my date of result publication of
SSC was 09, July 2005 from Dhaka board. Then I passed my Intermediate (HSC) in 2007 from
Dhaka City College with the GPA 3.80. My HSC result publication date was 26, August 2007
from Dhaka Board. After that I have undertaken and completed my Bachelor of Business
Administration from Daffodil International University with a CGPA of 3.07 in 2013---Month. My
enrollment session was spring 2008 and my result published in Summer (May-April) 2013.
Three months of internship was a part of my degree. I worked as an intern at Al-Arafah-Islami
Bank from 14th February to 14th May 2013 (Internship letter included). I started my BBA on 02
Jan,2008 (Spring,2008).Officially my study ended on 22 Dec,2012 (Fall 2012).But result
published on(Summer 2013) due to my internship from (14-02-2013 to 14-05-2013) which was
part of my degree. It was quite hardship to get an opportunity in a reputed place.I passed my
IELTS with an overall score of 6.00 and my exam date was 24th March, 2018.

After completion of my Bachelor degree, I applied for job and first I worked as a Customer Care
Representative in a reputed telecommunication company called CITYCELL from August 12,
2013 to February 27, 2015. My Job responsibility was handles incoming calls or inquiries from
prospective customers or clients, Assists customers effectively by solving customer disputes,
Provides customer additional information or explains services, Discusses products offered and
ensures customer satisfaction and so on. Then I appointed as an Accounts Officer in a
construction company called Cosmopolitan Construction Company from 5 July 2015 to
continuing till date. Explaining about my work, my job description includes: Handling accounts
that are payable and receivable, preparing ledgers on a daily basis, handling general accounts
queries and maintaining all the monetary records.

While doing job as an Accounts officer now I felt that I need to learn more about accounts so I
planned to get a degree from Australia. I got my deferment of offer letter in 13/11/2018. After
getting my offer from CQ I took some time to arrange my financial documents & finally
submitted my financial document at CQ on 18/10/2018. Now I applied for February-2019 intake
because when I applied for November-2018 intake I got my COE at the end of October.In the
next step I need to go through with visa processing and how long it will take it is unpredictable
and as my class will start from 05-11-2018so it would be very hard for me to take that session.
So all these reasons influenced me to defer my session.

I made analysis about UK, Australia and Canada’s education system. UK Cost of living per year
is 9,072 dollars and its weather frequently changes. Many types of weather can be experienced
in one day and its crime rate is comparatively higher than other countries. About 5.3 million
crime where recorded in last 12 months in UK and moreover, tuition fees in UK is significantly
higher than Australia. Masters course in UK is only for one year which provides students very
short time to adapt any new thing. However, Australian universities offer Master courses for two
years. Besides, living cost per year in Canada is $ 20,464.76 and weather of Canada is very
cold and I am positive that I’ll face difficulties in adjusting to that country. Australian currency
conversion rate is relatively lower than UK and Canada. Australia’s weather is very much
perfect to cope up with the weather for international students. Its living cost is only AUD$7,100
per year for each person and crime rate level is 46.01% where in UK it is 55.84% significantly
.So after observing all these factors I strongly believe that Australia will be the best choice for
me.

Australia is now one of the most attractive country in the world. Australian education system has
a very good reputation and assures quality education. Another reason for choosing Australia is
that students who are studied in Australian universities are very successful in finding jobs
country like us Bangladesh in top level companies. Australia is a safe, multicultural, friendly and
harmonious society. It provides the exposure to meet with people from variety corners of the
world. So eventually after comparing, I have chosen Australia for my preferred destination of
study.

In our country like Bangladesh It is seen universities offer courses that are highly popular
among students. These degrees are designed for research based not practical or competitive
employment market. Bangladeshi degree’s standard did not match with the international
education standard and structure. Besides, there is no particular degree on Master of
Professional Accounting. In addition, to the employers foreign degrees is highly appreciable.
These are the major reasons that influenced me to pursue my Master degree from Australia.

There are number of universities in Melbourne that offers Master of Professional Accounting
program such as Southern Cross University, La Trobe University and Charles Sturt University.
These universities tuition fees are extremely high. for an example Southern Cross Universities
tuition fee per year for Masters of Professional Accounting is AUD 32,000.00, for La Trobe
University tuition fee is AUD 34,600.00 and in Charles Sturt University it is AUD 28560.00.
Whereas, in CQ university it is only AUD 22,704 per year. However when I made comparison
between CQU and SCU in terms of education standard, affordable tuition fees with 20%
students scholarship for the international students and attractive course structure really support
my decision to choose CQ University over other universities.

Central Queensland University was originally founded in Rockhampton in 1967 and was known
as the Queensland Institute of Technology (Capricornia). By 1974 it was among only a few
Australian institutes to commence the delivery of distance education. Now more than 20 years
on, it has more than 25 campuses and more than 30,000 students studying qualifications from
certificate to post doctorate level. Now around 2000 students are studying in Melbourne
campus. It is a public university which offers outstanding education system for both local and
international students. It has excellent relationships with its communities, industries as well as
businesses. CQ University ensures quality education which is industry relevant and
internationally recognized which makes me interested towards CQ University. CQ University
has been given five stars for international institution, access and online delivery. It has hi tech
multimedia lab that helps student to do their research work quite sound and smooth Way. The
latest presentation and Audio-Visual equipment equity services, and so on are the major
facilities provided by this campus. I want to mention that student leadership and mentorship
program, academic learning center, career support these are extra opportunities student will get
from this campus. There is a website called Gumtree.com.au from where I am going to reserve
a favorable place nearest to my campus or will take help from my agent.

I have made up my mind to pursue Master of Professional Accounting from CQU from the new
Melbourne campus. Total duration of the course is 2 years with 16 units, 96 credit points,
consist of 4 Compulsory study periods of 14 weeks duration each. Estimated total fees for
Master of Professional Accounting is AUD$ 56760.00. As an international student I will get 20%
of scholarship. This is how my payable per semester will be AUD$ 14190.00. This course is
designed for students who are interested in employment in Accounting, Financial Management
oriented careers, Financial Accounting, Management Accounting and Administration. Master of
Professional Accounting will keep me updated by giving me overall knowledge on project
management, including project procurement, team leadership, risk management,
communication, financial management and human resources. This knowledge and
understanding will boost up my confidence and the ability to handle various kind of financial
projects. Master of Professional Accounting encompasses 16 units where there are 14 core
units like Economics for Managers, Managerial Finance, and Accounting in Australia,
Foundations in Accounting, Foundations of Management Accounting, Accounting Systems &
Information Assurance, Company Accounting, Contemporary Accounting Theory, Auditing &
Ethics, Ethics & Governance, Australian Commercial Law, and Statistics for Managerial
decision, Corporation & Business Structures, Taxation Law of Australia. In the last semester
university will me a professional internship or work placement, which will help me to experience
in a professional environment and relevant to my chosen discipline andexpand my professional
knowledge and work-readiness with practical experience consists of 12 credit points.

CQ University is one of the top ranked and highly reputed university in Australia and also in the
world. The facility from my course in this university are excellent and definitely suit my needs.
The course will provide me vast knowledge about research and analysis skills that are highly
suit in business. I will have the opportunity to achieve crucial life-long learning and transferable
generic skills, such as critical thinking and problem solving. CQ University provide the perfect
mix of the theory and practical experiences to ensure the graduate to work, made graduate
attractive to employers and helping to broaden student’s career opportunity.

After completion of the course I plan on coming back to my country. There are high job
prospects in my country for accounting field. My future plan is to join in HSBC bank or other
multinational bank in our country or any international financial organization as an Accounts
manager or Finance manager, Financial Accountant, Auditor, Investment banker, financial
specialist and my expected salary is BDT 70,000-80,000 per month and basic salary of around
BDT 10 lakh salary package per year. Moreover, during my post study work period I will get
additional 18 to 36 months of staying in Australia and I am planning to use the best of this
period by joining a job and gaining valuable practical experience and knowledge which I am
going to surely apply in practical field after coming back to my home country. So this is how I
can state that, it is worth to invest of time and money in Australia and from this I will able to earn
it back which I will invest in Australia.A Master’s degree in professional accounting will open the
doors to job and career opportunities in a number of fields for me. All business ventures and
organizations have a need for professional accountants and while there are job opportunities in
accounting for those with undergraduate degrees, for those who purse a Master’s degree in
accounting there is opportunity for advancement and entry into professional positions within
government and university organizations. Most accounting jobs require a minimum of a two-
year degree but most encourage a four-year degree or beyond for consideration to
management or senior level positions. A Master’s degree in accounting is a good investment for
those seeking advancement with their current employer or seeking to launch out into an
entrepreneurial endeavor. Job opportunities for those with master’s degree in accounting are
often professional level positions requiring specialization or certification in specific areas.

My father-in-law is the proprietor of his own company called Cosmopolitan Construction

Company. Apart from that, he has his own two shops of car motor parts. As my husband is the
only son of his father so eventually my husband is the only heir of his all properties. Even after
some time I will get at least two flats from my father’s property which will value around BDT 80
lakh. As my two families are living here so it is our responsibility to come back and stay besides
of them whenever they needs us and also monitoring our property which we will inherited from
our parents. As our family is financially solvent enough and me and my husband has a bright
future in our home country that will surely lead us coming back to Bangladesh.

My family and my family-in-laws have been very supportive of my ambitions as they are willing
to sponsor my education. I would to have my husband accompany during my stay in Australia
and during my education because I will get financial support and care during my stay in a new
and unfamiliar condition from him. As well as in my country Bangladesh a married woman is not
allowed to stay alone being apart from her husband due to social values and cultures.

500 subclass visas allow student to stay in Australia to study a full time higher education
course. There have some obligations which are given below:
 1. I will require meet 80% attendance.
2. I can work up to 40 hours in fortnight.
3. I am aware that I can’t change the university within 6 months.
4. If I change the address then I need to update DIBP/University within seven days.
5. I need to maintain the OSHC throughout the study period.
