STATEMENT OF PURPOSE

I, A. Abhishek Reddy, was born on 25th January 1998 in Piduguralla in Andhra Pradesh state
in India. I always aspired to choose a career that really stimulated me and held a natural
appeal for me. After carefully considering my aptitude, interests, the nature of training and
my ultimate professional ambition, I decided to pursue Master of Business Analytics Degree,
which shall essentially pilot my career towards cementing my dream to become an expert in
the field and work in a world class company.

FAMILY BACKGROUND:
I belong to a traditional Indian family, with strong ethical values. My father Mr. A. Srinivasa
Reddy is a business man. My mother, Mrs. A. Syamala is a home-maker. I have an elder
sister A. Sneha Reddy who is currently married and living in USA. I am the youngest son in
my family. My parents have always supported me in my decision and always there with me
when I need them. My siblings have also encouraged me to pursue my dreams.

ACADEMIC BACKGROUND:
I have completed my schooling at Dr. KKR’s GOUTHAM SCHOOL, Guntur with a score of
9.3 GPA from Secondary School of Certificate (SSC) in 2013. My analytical skills were
recognized by my Teachers at a very early stage and with their relentless mentoring, my skill
set bloomed. My prodigious mentors left no stone unturned to instill confidence and zest in
me. Since I was a person interested in physics and zoology, I chose MPC during my pre-
university education (10+2) in CHAITANYA Jr COLLEGE, where I secured a score of
87.5% from The Board of Intermediate and completed in 2015. As my inclination was
always towards the Business and IT, I opted to pursue Bachelor of technology under
graduation studies and enrolled at SRM University, Chennai. I have completed my Bachelor
Degree in May 2019 with a CGPA of 67%.
I started preparing for my masters since then. I have given my PTE on 02th December 2019.
I scored an overall score of 62 with no band less than 60 and started my application process
for master’s in business analytics in Western Sydney University, got my offer on 11th
December 2019. I have already enclosed my PTE certificate.

WHY NOT INDIA:

After deciding to pursue Master of Business Analytics, I researched my options in India.
Now there were many institutes that were offering the course but there was no international
exposure. The institutes that have tie-ups with international universities offered limited
experience of three months and charge fees equal to that of foreign university. Universities in
India have limited seats and a quota system that made it very difficult for me to get a seat for
a master’s degree of my choice with my chosen specialization. IIMs and IITs have half a
million students applying for less than thousand seats. Eligibility is through entrance test so
you can imagine that it would be next to impossible for me to get a seat there. Now the
private institutions in India charge huge fees and often do not deliver the quality of education
expected from them. I did not want to lose time and money by choosing a subpar university
to study something that would likely make or break my career. I want a globally accepted
degree. The method of teaching in India is very much focused on theory. There are very less
universities that have a fully equipped up-to-date lab that will enable me to practice on what
was taught. I want to be able to have the freedom to express and test my ideas about my
subjects. Rarely do Indian universities have alternative teaching methods like online
discussions, workshops, debates, and relevant industrial tours. Weighing all these points, I
realized that Australian universities will provide me much more than an Indian university and
so I chose Australian University.
WHY AUSTRALIA OVER OTHER COUNTRIES?
While searching for the right university to pursue my Master’s degree, I checked the most
sought after countries by International studies. Those were USA, UK, Canada and Australia.
Now all the other three countries had merits and demerits that I had to take into account
while choosing one of them. However, my major factors for choosing a country for studies
were quality of education, positives of gaining a master’s degree from that country, distance
from my home country, climatic variance, cost of living and Those were USA, UK, Canada
and Australia. Now all the other three countries had merits and demerits that I had to take
into account while choosing one of them. However, my major factors for choosing a country
for studies were quality of education, positives of gaining a master’s degree from that
country, distance from my home country, climatic variance, cost of living and adaptability.
When I searched for USA, I came to know that I had to pass a mandatory GRE exam and the
chance of me getting a visa was slim because of changes in the norms recently. Also, USA
universities usually have a huge classroom with that many students which means that I
would not be having a personal interaction with my teachers when required. That was very
important to me since the method of teaching varies from that of India. The cost of
accommodation and travelling are high as well. I have a limited budget and so removed USA
as an option. My next choices were UK and Canada. Both countries have fantastic
universities but the weather there is much on the cooler side which was not what I want. I
also wanted to be in a university where I can have a close association with my teachers so
that I can take their guidance to learn in depth about my subjects. Australia offered me all
this and more and that is the reason why I had no qualms selecting Australia for my studies.
Now the reasons for choosing Australia were, foremost the quality of education in Australia
is at par with international standards. It has a body TESQA which makes sure that
international students get quality education. The method of teaching is different and
innovative. Thy encourage students to think out of the box. The TPS makes sure that
students are not at a loss when the university fails to deliver the promised study course. The
universities update their teaching materials to include the latest findings in their present
curriculum so that students are aware of the current changes in their chosen field. A Master
of Business Analytics Degree from WSU is acceptable anywhere in the world and will be
beneficial for me if I chose to work elsewhere in the future. The climate in Australia is very
similar to that of India which means I would not have to worry about adapting to prolonged
cold temperatures. The people there are very civil, friendly and helpful. The society is very
open minded and inclusive of other cultures. Australia has a nature’s treasure in terms of
wildlife, beaches and ancient tribes. The quality of life in Australia is very high but
affordable. As an environment friendly country, the pollution is low and that translates to
better living conditions. It has an efficient healthcare system. The country already has a base
of international students coming for studies for decades so settling in will not be a problem.
And last but not the least, one of my relatives are already studying in Australia. They are
enjoying their stay there. It was their positive input about the universities and people made
me decide that Australia was the best for me.

WHY WESTERN SYDNEY UNIVERSITY?

Western Sydney University (WSU) is the best option to study masters there because when
the course which is provided in this university as more concepts which I knew few of them
and when it is compared to the other universities like Macquarie university, the assignments
are given more, few classes are taken. The ambience of the Wesrtern Sydney University
what I have seen is peace and more study cabins for the students. Western Sydney
University is a dynamic place to learn and continues to challenge the traditional notions of
what a university should be. This university brings knowledge to the life in the education of
students for employment. The standard of student support at WSU has prevailed in
comparison to the Macquarie and UTS. The scholarships provided in this Western Sydney
University are best compared to other universities providing a low level of scholarships for
the International students. And also when compared the jobs and quality of education to
other university, most of the universities only look up to bring up the name of university to
be top, where WSU also look at the students performances and their activities. Western
Sydney University’s curriculum prepares students for a global future, it works with its
community, business partners and industry leaders to develop course content that meets the
needs of employers and jobs of the future, and which responds to the challenges of the
global workplace. The university’s student-centered approach offers students the choice of
on-campus and flexible study options combined with work-integrated learning. Through
work experience placements, internships and volunteering opportunities, students will get
the real life experience, practical skills and knowledge that they need for their future career.
Unlike the traditional lecturer-down approach, the university’s innovative model of the
created learning treats its students as partners in their education. It empowers students to
share ideas and develop their creativity through a range of degrees.

known as “Hub of Information Technology” in the country. Secondly as it is one of the
fastest growing economies on globe and there would be many prospects and I take pride in
staying with my family. When I am back home after completing my master’s program in

possible to give a career opportunity to other employees as well. India is a growing
economy and with many international companies looking to invest here, they will be
requiring employees who have international exposure as well have experience working in
an environment where there are multicultural settings. My Master’s degree will help me
gain all the above exposure and make me a very suitable candidate to be hired by these
companies that will give me the job satisfaction.

REASON TO RETURN TO HOME COUNTRY

I would like to confirm that after completion of my studies I will come back to my home
country as I am the only girl child for my parent and I hold the responsibility to take care of
my parent and be safe guard to my family. The main aim to choose Australia as my
destination is that it has the good international standards so with this I can gain good
experience and exposure which further helps me in securing good job in my home country.

As my sister is also the elder daughter in the family and looks after properties and family
and I am the younger one of the family, we are the only persons responsible to take care of
my mother and properties.
