Electrical Transformer Thermal Analysys Using Ansys Fluent (CFD)

The document discusses performing a thermal analysis simulation of an electrical transformer using ANSYS Fluent software. The simulation will be done using 2D and 3D methods to evaluate oil flow, temperature of oil and windings. Required inputs and additional simulations using ANSYS Electronics Desktop that can be provided are also listed.

ELECTRICAL TRANSFORMER THERMAL ANALYSYS USING ANSYS FLUENT (CFD)

The simulation performed with ANSYS Fluent software via the finite volume method on an unstructured
grid and solved iteratively at discrete grid locations. Pressure and velocity are solved via the PISO
algorithm, as it is recommended by the fluent guide in case of pressure based simulations. The pressure-
based solver was used and the PRESTO! Discretization method for pressure was used, as recommended
by the fluent guide in case of buoyancy-driven flows.

We will perform this simulation 2D & 3D methods in order to evaluate transformer oil flow analysis,
temperature of oil and winding.

Required Inputs:
1. GTP (Guaranteed Technical Particulars)
2. Factory Acceptance Test Report
3. Temperature Rise Test Report
4. Winding Assembly Details

Further More Simulations We Provide Using ANSYS ELECTRONICS DESKTOP (ANSYS MAXWELL)
1) NO-LOAD LOSS AND CURRENT
2) FULL LOAD LOSS
3) REACTANCE VOLTAGE CALCULATION
4) STRAY LOSSES OF TANK AND FRAMES WITHOUT SHUNTS WITH SHUNTS AND SHILEDS
5) ELCTROSTATIC ANLAYS OF TRANSFORMER INSULATION AND WINDING
