direct/reported speech, passive/ active voice, simple past and past perfect tenses, and sentence connectors.
B. Performance Standards The learner transfers learning by: showing ways of asserting one’s identity; comprehending informative and short narrative texts using
schema and appropriate listening and viewing strategies; expressing ideas, opinions, and feelings through various formats; and enriching
written and spoken communication using direct/reported speech, active/passive voice, simple past and past perfect tenses and connectors
correctly and appropriately.

IV. PROCEDURES These steps should be done across the week. Spread out the activities appropriately so that students will learn well. Always be guided by
demonstration of learning by the students which you can infer from formative assessment activities. Sustain learning systematically by
(4 A’s) providing students with multiple ways to learn new things, practice their learning, question their learning processes, and draw conclusions
about what they learned in relation to their life experiences and previous knowledge. Indicate the time allotment for each step.

B. Activity TASK 1. “Simple Past/Past Perfect Stories”
The past perfect tense tells about a past action that was
completed before another past action started.
In using the past perfect tense, a helping verb had is added
before the past participle. The helping verb had is the past
form of has and have .
had + past participle
Examples:
had worked had liked had bent
had smiled had copied had gone
There are several situations where the past perfect tense can be
used. It is appropriate to use in the following ways.
Sentence structure
After Anna had eaten rice and hotdogs for breakfast, she
brushed her teeth.
After – Time Marker
Anna – Subject
had eaten – Verb in past perfect tense
rice and hotdogs – Object
brushed – Verb in simple past form
Before I went to the office, I had finished some business with
her.
I – Subject
had bought – Verb in past perfect tense
phone – Object
after – Time Marker
came – Verb in simple past form
Note: The time markers can be placed at the beginning or middle of
the sentence.
E. Application TASK 4. “Sentence Completion”
Direction: Complete the sentence with the correct past perfect tense
using the verb in the parenthesis.

F. Assessment FINAL TASK: “Let’s Test”
Direction: Answer the following questions using the past perfect tense of
the verb. Construct the sentences using the 5 uses of the past perfect
tense. Write your answers in your notebook.
