Maps part 1
Read the dialogue with your class.

Characters: Sandra and John.


John : Excuse me. Can you help me find the Royal Ontario Museum?
Sandra : Yes, of course. Let’s look at your map.
John : Ok. I know that we are here, at this intersection. But I’m not sure if I should walk this way
or that way.
Sandra : You need to walk just two blocks in that direction. You’ll see the museum on your right.
John : Great, thank you. I’ve heard that the museum is very big. Do you have any suggestions
on what I should look at? I only have a couple of hours.
Sandra : You’re right. It is huge. There are some fantastic treasures on display in the Asian
section if you like ancient things. Right now there is also a 3-D display of Canadian
painters. It’s very interesting..
John : Wonderful. Thank you for your time and your help.

Read the dialogue with your class.

Characters: Sandra and Molly .


Molly : OK, you drive and I’ll navigate.
Sandra : Alright, but give me plenty of notice if I have to turn. The traffic is so heavy.
Molly : OK, sure thing. In four blocks we’ll turn right. We should be able to see the CN Tower
straight ahead of us. It’s an iconic building. We won’t miss it.
Sandra : But, I can’t turn right because it’s a one-way street.
Molly : No problem, You should be able to turn right on the next street.
Sandra : Ok, here we go, Oh yes, I can see the tower now. How far is it?
Molly : Well according to the GPS, it’s 2 km, but it looks much closer.
