Q1- A separately- excited d-c generator has armature resistances of 0.05Ω.
When running at 1200 r.p.m supply 200 A at 125 V to a circuit of
constant resistance. What will be the current when the speed drops to
1000 r.p.m with the field current unaltered?

Q2- The armature resistance of a separately excited d-c generator is 0.25 Ω.
If the machine is connected to a constant voltage bus bar of 400 V, find
the reduction in the speed when the load delivered by it decreases from
50 kw to 25 kw.

Q3- A 4.5 kw, 125 V , 1150 r.p.m separately- excited d.c generator has an
armature resistance of 0.37 Ω. When the machine is driven at rated
speed, the no-load saturation curve obtained is

Q4- A 4- pole , wave-wound, 1000 r.p.m shunt generator has armature and
field resistances of 0.5Ωand 200Ω respectively. The armature has 600
conductors and the flux per pole is 0.03 Wb . if the load resistance is
10Ω .Calculate the terminal voltage and load current delivered by the
generator.

Q5-A d.c series generator has armature resistances of 0.5Ω and Series field
resistance of 0.03 Ω. It drives aload of 50 A .if it has (6 turn/coil) and
total 540 coil on the armature and is driven at 1500 r.p.m . Find the
terminal voltage at the load. Assume 4-pole, lap wound type ,flux per
pole as 2 mWb and total brush drop as 2 V.
(Ans. Vt=295.5 V)
Q6- A short shunt compound wound d.c generator supplies a load current
of 150 Amperes at 230 V. the generator has following resistances:
Armature resistance=0.15Ω, Series resistance = 0.1 Ω,
Shunt resistance =100 Ω, Calculate the e.m.f generator, if the brush
drop is 2 volt/brush.

Q7- Along-shunt compound generator delivers a load current of 50 A at
500v And has armature, series field and shunt field resistance of 0.05Ω,
0.03Ω, and 250Ω respectively, calculate the Electromagnetic power
(developed power in armature) and output power. if the brush drop is
1volt/brush.
(ANS. Pd= 26320.3 watt Pout= 2500 watt)
Q8- 25 Kw , 250 V ,D.C shunt machine has armature and field resistance of
0.06 Ω and 100Ω Respectively, determine the total armature power
developed when working
i)- as a generator delivering 25 Kw
ii) as a motor taking 25 Kw in put
Q9-A d.c. shunt motor runs at 900 r.p.m from a 460 V supply when
taking an armature current of 25 A . Calculate the speed at which it
will run from 230 V supply when taking an armature current of 50 A.
the resistance of the armature circuit is 0.8Ω . Assume the flux per pole
at 230V to have decreased to 75% of its value at 460V.

conductors. the flux per pole is 50 mWb and full-load efficiency is
92% Its shunt field resistance is 250 Ω and armature circuit resistance
is 0.1 Ω calculate for full-load
