Since 2015, the Research Council of Finland has granted competitive profiling funding (profi) to Finnish universities. The aim of the funding is to support and speed up the strategic profiling of Finnish universities in order to improve the quality of research. The Research Council of Finland defines a profiling area as a research area or a thematic research module that a university intends to develop according to its strategy. The University of Jyväskylä has chosen its profiling areas based on the strategic core fields of research and level of research.
