The Morehead State men's golf team posted a tie for seventh place among 11 teams at the Xavier Invitational on Tuesday at the Maketewah Country Club in Cincinnati.  

MSU posted team scores of 293-297-302 for a total of 892, placing ahead of fellow Ohio Valley Conference members Tennessee Tech and Southern Indiana who finished 10th and 11th respectively.

Nolan Piazza paced the Eagles, shooting scores of 71-74-73 for a 54-hole total of 218 around the 7,109-yard, par 70 Maketewah Country Club layout. In Tuesday's final round, the senior from Niagara Falls parred the first nine holes and then toured the back nine in 38 (+3) to finish T-17 out of 64 golfers competing.  

"Nolan led us once again and battled through a few tough stretches that prevented him from contending," said MSU head coach Matthew Martin. "I'm confident he will continue to be in a great position every time we tee it up."

Sophomore Remy Stalcup fired rounds of 70-75-76-221 to finish T-29. "Remy had some great stretches including a really nice first round," said Martin.  

Junior Logan McCormick shot 76-77-73-226 to finish T-46. Freshman Seamus Bogan fired rounds of 76-73-80-229 to tie for 49th. 

Freshman Gavin Augenstein, playing as an individual, fired rounds of 73-79-72-224 for a tie for 41st place, and shooting the low score for Morehead State for the final round. Junior Logan Liles shot 76-75-81 for a 232 total (55th).

The Xavier Invitational is the final event of the Eagles' fall schedule. "We will work hard over the winter as a team to come out stronger in the spring," said Martin.   

After the winter break, Morehead State will return to action February 16-18 at the Casablanca Collegiate at the Casablanca Golf Club in Mesquite, Nevada.
