CLASSCRAFT

A GAME-BASED APPROACH
TO TEACHING AND
LEARNING
BY: ALISON WILD

ABOUT CLASSCRAFT
Classcraft is an interactive quest-based tool used to gamify
learning and foster student autonomy, competence, and
relatedness. This application promotes teamwork, problem-
solving, and critical thinking. Students can receive immediate
feedback from their teacher through game points.

CREATING A QUEST

After you create a classroom on Classcraft and add students manually or through
Google Classroom, you can create a quest by clicking the green + sign that says
"add quest." You will then select a quest map and enter a quest name.

You will begin by making a quest introduction that draws students in. You will then
create an objective with a corresponding story, task, assignment and class
discussion (if enabled), and reward for completing the objective.

You can create multiple objectives and connect them together to create a path for
students to follow.

You can organize students into teams. Together, they can work through quest
objectives, earn points, use their superpowers, and complete the 18 levels.

For each 'class' there is a student code, class code, and parent code. This allows for
the whole family to view the progress and achievements of their student.
CHARACTER TYPE
Each character type has strengths, weaknesses,
and various superpowers.

STUDENTS CHOOSE FROM THE FOLLOWING:

GUARDIAN
Guardians protect their teammates from damage
They start with 80 HP and 30 AP

MAGE

They start with 30 HP and 50 AP

Mage superpowers

HEALER

A major component of Classcraft is teamwork. It is beneficial

for teams to have at least one character of each type so that
they can assist each other by using diverse superpowers.
