2. On or about 6:00 in the morning of November 3, 2015, an


unidentified body about 5’8” in height with a dragon tattoo on the left upper arm
and a “Nato” tattoo on the right lower armpit was found in a riprap located along
Balacbac Circumferential Road, Purok 11, Bakakeng Sur, Baguio City. The
cadaver was seen by Buenaventura Balneg y Espiritu, 56 years old, married, a
BCPO Police Auxiliary, and a resident of Purok 11, Bakakeng Sur, Baguio City.

Investigation disclosed that Espiritu was about to fetch his


motorcycle when he saw a black shoe and bloodstains scattered at the left side
of the road near the sidewalk. When he went to verify, he saw the body facing
upwards with both feet tied with packing tape and the head covered with a black
jacket.

2. This case of alleged murder involved on unidentified body found by


Buenaventura Espiritu on November 3, 2015 at around 6:00 in the morning at
Balacbac Circumferential Road, Purok 11, Bakakeng Sur, Baguio city. The
cadaver had its feet tied with packing tape and its head covered with a black
jacket.

3. An investigation led by SPO1 NAME uncovered the identity of the


body brought to Bahay Damayan Funeral Homes, located at Km 5, Marcos
Highway, Baguio City, to be one Arnold Uminga y Caubang, 42 years old,
married born on May 4, 1973 at Baguio City, and a resident of No. 88, Yap
Street, South Sanitary, Baguio City.

Investigation further disclosed that Caubang’s live-in partner, Marites


Cabanacan y Miraya, 41, years old, single, born on October 7, 1974 at
Catarman, Samar, a manicurist, and presently residing at Km 3, Bell Church, La
Trinidad, Benguet, saw the victim leave their residence on November 2, 2015 at
around 7:30 in the morning. Caubang’s brother, Marvin Uminga y Caubang, 39
years old, married, born on March 16, 1976 at Baguio City, and a resident of No.
88, Yap Street, South Sanitary, Baguio City, also saw the victim on the same day
at around 3:00 in the afternoon with an unidentified male companion. Marvin
Caubang was the last person who saw the victim alive. Cabanacan came to
know of the incident when she watched TV Patrol Northern Luzon on November
3, 2015 at 5:30 in the afternoon and saw a segment that featured a found
cadaver of an unidentified male along Balacbac Circumferential Road, Baguio
City.

the victim’s death

III. Facts of the Case

A. On November 3, 2015 at around 6:00 in the morning, an


incident about an unidentified body about 5’8” in height with a dragon tattoo on
the left upper arm and a “Nato” tattoo on the right lower armpit found along
Balacbac Circumferential Road, Baguio City was reported to this police station by
Buenaventura Balneg y Espiritu, 56 years old, married, a BCPO Police Auxiliary,
and a resident of Purok 11, Bakakeng Sur, Baguio City. Espiritu mentioned that
he was about to fetch his motorcycle when he saw a black shoe and bloodstains
scattered at the left side of the road near the sidewalk. When he went to verify,
he saw the body facing upwards with both feet tied with packing tape and the
head covered with a black jacket.

B. On the same day, the corpse was brought to Bahay Damayan


Funeral Homes, located at Km 5, Marcos Highway, Baguio City. IOC SPO1

NAME led an investigation and identified the body to be Arnold Uminga y
Caubang, 41 years old, married, born on May 4, 1973 at Baguio City, and a
resident of No. 88, Yap Street, South Sanitary, Baguio City.

C. On the same day, further investigation made by the same


investigation team led by SPO1 NAME disclosed that Arnold had a live-in partner
by the name of Marites Cabanacan y Miraya, 41, years old, single, born on
October 7, 1974 at Catarman, Samar, a manicurist, and presently residing at Km
3, Bell Church, La Trinidad, Benguet. She claimed that she saw the victim leave
their residence on November 2, 2015 at around 7:30 in the morning. She came to
know of the incident when she watched TV Patrol Northern Luzon on November
3, 2015 at 5:30 in the afternoon and saw a segment that featured a found
cadaver of an unidentified male along Balacbac Circumferential Road, Baguio
City.

D. On the same day, the same investigation team found that


Arnold’s brother, Marvin Uminga y Caubang, 39 years old, married, born on
March 16, 1976 at Baguio City, and a resident of No. 88, Yap Street, South
Sanitary, Baguio City, also saw the victim on November 2, 2015 at around 3:00 in
the afternoon with an unidentified male companion. Marvin was the last person
who saw the victim alive.

IV. Discussion

The swift action of the responding investigation team should be


commended because they have gathered substantial information about the
victim’s identity and from the victim’s live-in partner and brother. Likewise, the
voluntary participation of Marites Miraya and Marvin Caubang should be
appreciated since they gave a foundation for the progress of the case.

V. Conclusion

The suspect or suspects must be immediately found to make them


answer for the heinous crime against Arnold Caubang and to pay for the damage
done to his family.

VI. Recommendation

This office recommends that this case be up for further investigation.


This office also recommends the posting of posters in all police stations and
barangay offices to solicit more information regarding the unidentified suspect of
the circumstances surrounding the victim’s death. A notice for the above-
mentioned purpose is TV Patrol Northern Luzon, in the Facebook page of the
PNP, and in a newspaper of general circulation is also recommended.

DATE : October 14, 2018

2. On or about 3:30 in the morning of October 13, 2018, Marie Santos


Villanueva, 33 years old, married, vendor, and a resident of Trancoville, Baguio
City, was robbed and stabbed three (3) times in her stomach by an unidentified
suspect, 5’6” in height, wearing a black jacket with a hood and maong short
partns, in her rented stall located at her place of residence.

Investigation disclosed that the unidentified suspect gained entry by


forcibly destroying the locked window located at the rear portion of the victim’s
stall. The victim was stabbed three (3) times in her stomach and was robbed of
cash worth ₱10,000.00, two (2) Samsung smartphones and assorted jewelries.

Investigation further disclosed that the SOCO Team, who arrived at


around 5:00 A.M. of the same day, recovered one (1) piece of a deformed blade
measuring about 5”.

Motive: gain. Case is for follow-up investigation. IOC: PO3 Dante I.
