Practise

1) Did you watch the news last night on TV?


2) Yes I did but the thunder was so loud I could hardly hear the TV.
1) I turned my TV off incase my house got hit by the lightning!
2) I forgot to do that!

1) I was riding my bike yesterday and suddenly hails stones were falling from the sky.
2) Wow, did they hurt?
1) Yes, one nearly took my eye out!
2) I'm glad I was inside my house

1) It has been raining so much this weekend, I hope it doesn't flood.


2) Well if it does flood, we will have to swim to school.
1) Or take a boat!
2) Or stay at home.

Have the class read the above sentences together. Have the class practise speaking to each other in
pairs. I will walk around the class and listen.

Production
Listening exercise. Split the class into 2 teams. I will perfrom a weather forcast, i.e. 'On Sunday it will rain
in China' and ask questions accordingly.
5 minutes writing and 5 minutes talking
In pairs, the class must discuss the weather, what they like and dislike. What they could do in various
weathers e.g. hot= go to the beach, eat icecream. blizzard= build a snowman, go snowboarding. If this is
too difficult, write things on the board with pictures and the students must match them to the correct
weather.

Class discussion re above.

Cooler
The class with make a thunder storm.
1. rub your hands together
2. snap your fingers
3. clap your hands randomly
4. slap hands on your legs
5. tap your fingers on the desk
6. stomp feet
7. flick light switches on and off
