BattleTech Compendium: The Rules of Warfare
Compiled Errata for First, Second, and Third Printings, as of 8 May, 1996
Corrections marked "2nd" were made on the second printing.
Corrections marked "3rd" were made on the third printing.
All other corrections will be made on the fourth printing.
PAGE 9 -- Infantry Units, Foot

(2nd) In last sentence, "Infantry unite" should be "Infantry units".
PAGE 11 -- Heavy Woods

Change the third sentence, "Units cannot see through heavy woods" to "It is very difficult to see
through heavy woods."
PAGE 18 -- Movement Costs

Second paragraph, second sentence, change the beginning to: "However, a unit can always move
into the hex directly in front of it at the beginning of the Movement Phase, regardless of"
PAGE 19 -- Movement Direction

In the example, fifth sentence (starts with "Similarly"), replace entire sentence with the
following: "The BattleMech's walking MP of 4 is not enough to get it to Hex E because it would
have to move forward into Hex B (1 MP), then change its facing one hexside (1 MP), then enter
the Depth 1 Water hex (2 MP), which would require an additional +1 MP for the elevation level
change (total 5 MP).

(2nd) Change the bold text attribution at the top of the page to:

PAGE 25 -- Piloting Skill Rolls

(3rd) First paragraph, "his BattleMech receives 20 Damage Points or more in a single turn"
Change turn to phase.
PAGE 25 -- Piloting Skill Roll Table

Under Damage to BattleMech, third line (Leg/foot actuator destroyed) change to "Leg/foot/hip
actuator destroyed"

PAGE 26 -- Second Paragraph
(2nd) "only makes one Piloting Skill Roll for taking 20+ points in a single turn" should be:
"only makes one Piloting Skill Roll for taking 20+ points in a single phase"
PAGE 47 -- Hatchets
Add the following new sentence after the first sentence on the page: "This means the target can
be in the side firing arc corresponding to the arm the hatchet is mounted in."
PAGE 47 -- Charging
First paragraph, second sentence, replace the following text: "both legs must be functioning. The
unit" with the word "it".
PAGE 48 -- Charging
In the first complete paragraph, change the last two sentences to read:
"If the defending MechWarrior's skill level is lower, add the modifier to the to-hit number. If the
attacker's Piloting Skill level is lower, subtract the modifier from the to-hit number.
PAGE 49 -- Death From Above

Replace the last sentence before Weapon Attack Phase with the following sentence: "A
BattleMech may only be the target of one death from above attack per turn."
PAGE 50 -- Damage to Attacker

Second sentence, change "divide the attacker's weight by 5" to "divide the attacker's weight by
10"
PAGE 63 -- Ground and Naval Vehicle Hit Location Tables

Add asterisk on the Dice Roll numbers 2 and 12, and the following note at the bottom of both
tables:
"*A result of 2 or 12 may inflict a critical hit. Apply damage to the armor in that section in the
normal manner, but the attacking player also rolls once on the Determining Critical Hits Table, p.
42."
PAGE 64 -- VTOL Hit Location Table

Add asterisk on the Dice Roll numbers 2 and 12, and the following note at the bottom of the
table:

(2nd) The page reference at the end of the second paragraph should be 78.

(2nd) Second paragraph mentions 40 Clans, it should be 20 Clans.
PAGE 105 -- Inner Sphere Weapons and Equipment Table

(3rd) Small Laser Tons is missing the decimal (appears to be a printing error). The Tons should
be ".5"
PAGE 117 -- Heat Sinks

(2nd) Second paragraph, cut the last sentence; "Double heat sinks cannot be mounted in a
BattleMech's legs."
PAGE 120 -- Target Acquisition Gear

Correct tab error and justification of first paragraph.
PAGE 124 -- Weapon and Equipment Prices

Add a new line under "Flamer" that reads:
Flamer (Vehicle) 7,500 1,000
PAGE 126 -- Bushwacker

(3rd) Under armament, the ER large laser is misspelled "Seetshot" it should be "Sweetshot";
(3rd) Engine mass should be 8 tons.
PAGE 127 -- Axman

PAGE 128 -- Mauler

(3rd) Engine mass should be 7.5 tons.
PAGE 129 -- Hunchback IIC

(3rd) Engine mass should be 4.5 tons.
PAGE 131 -- Thor

(2nd) Targeting and Tracking System should be "Unknown" not "Narc Beacon."
PAGE 132 -- Mad Cat

Under Armament, change pod space to 27.5 tons.
(3rd) Under Armament, change "2 Medium Pulse Lasers" to "1 Medium Pulse Laser."
(3rd) Change Internal Structure Mass to 4.
(3rd) Change Engine Mass to 19.5.
(3rd) Cut the ER Small Laser from Weapons and Ammo.
PAGE 141 -- Battle Armor Record Form

(3rd) In the Battle Armor Missiles Table, tab over the "1" under Die Roll. It should be in the
"(2)" column.

PAGE 150 -- Mad Cat Record Sheet
(3rd) Total Heat Sinks should be 17 (34). Fix number of dots also.
(3rd) Cut ER Small Laser in both Weapons Inventory and Critical Hit Table (LT).
PAGE 151 -- Reference Sheet

(3rd) Correct tab error on BattleMech Hit Location Table.
