Problem 1:

effective value of 220V and a frequency of 50Hz. The load to be supplied is a 5 Ω resistor.
Determine: (a) the average current, (b) the average power absorbed by the load, and (c) the
power factor of the circuit.

The half-wave rectifier circuit of Fig. 1 has a transformer inserted between the
source and the remainder of the circuit. The source is 240 V rms at 50 Hz, and
the load resistor is 20 Ω. (a) Determine the required turns ratio of the transformer
such that the average load current is 12 A. (b) Determine the average current in
the primary winding of the transformer

power absorbed by the DC source,(c) The RMS current supplied by the source, given that the
power factor is Fp 0.52 and the extinction angle is 183.78o .

Design a rectifier that provides an average voltage of 80 V across a resistor R 100 from
a source VS 220 2 sin(314t ) . Calculate the absorbed power and determine the power
factor.
