12/31/2007 Suprise New Years Eve Snow

This storm was somewhat of a surprise, with the forecast calling for less than 1" of snow -- we ended up with 4.5". The fresh evening snow, combined with the city lights, provided a nice backdrop for a bit of night photography. I probably could of messed with the white balance a bit more ... oh well.

12/28/2007 Snowstorm

We added another 3.9" to our seasonal snow total on Friday thanks to a quick-moving storm. A couple images below including a look at the NIU "entrance" and a rural road "whiteout."

12/16/2007 Snowstorm Aftermath

Snow tallies have continued to increase this month. We had about 1.7" overnight Friday and then another 5" or thereabouts on Saturday evening. Snow totals on the ground range from 7-10", with most of the bottom part of that "snow" a hard, crusty ice from last weekend's ice storm. Below are some images from NIU and DeKalb -- shot on Sunday morning the day after the snow blanketed the area.

I love this type of frame in the early morning.

12/12/2007 - Aftermath of Ice Storm

A couple pics the morning after an ice storm dropped 0.25-0.75" of freezing rain on DeKalb. The snow on the ground from a previous storm developed an amazingly thick crust (and gleam) due to the freezing rain. I like these two pics of the tree because the ice-covered branches look like fireworks in the early morning light.

10/13-21/2007 Lake Tahoe/Yosemite/Reno NWA Meeting

I've finally had some time to sit down and sort through my photos of my trip to Reno, NV for the National Weather Association meeting. Enjoy.
