Another image looking south toward Twin Coves. The water is shallow out about a mile, where it finally drops off into the deep Atlantic. Cruise ships routinely migrate this coastline between ports, but (thankfully) don't port at Eleuthera.

3/7-14/2008 Eleuthera, Bahamas
Sharon and I returned to Eleuthera for a third time for NIU's spring break week. It was a much needed break from this snowy and cold winter. As in the past two trips, we rented a small 1-br house along the "Atlantic" side of the extremely long and skinny island. The house, which is about 3 miles north and east of Governors Harbour, is situated on a bluff overlooking an Eleutheran pink sand beach as well as hundreds of yards of pristine reef (perfect for snorkeling!). We love this "out" island for its true Bahamian lifestyle and remoteness ... no one, except us, strolled "our" beach a mile in each direction the entire time we were there. The weather cooperated with near perfect conditions ... highs in the 80s with a nice wind to keep the bugs away.
