8/11-15/2010 -- Copper Country

Our first vacation with Chase was a quick jaunt through Devils Lake, the North Woods of Wisconsin, the UP, and, in particular, Keweenaw Peninsula. The entire drive through Wisconsin and the UP of Michigan was spectacular. We thoroughly enjoyed our stays in Wausau and Houghton. Our favorite area was the eastern shores of the Keweenaw (less developed than the western shore), Houghton (surprisingly cool town on Portage Lake; spent two nights enjoying the $2.50 pints at KBC), and Calumet (neat architecture in this old mining town). Sharon and I joked about revisiting in January to experience the lake effect. We'll see ...
