Other imaginative responses as appropriate Complementary: 3.3.1 Read and enjoy A1 fiction/non-fiction print and digital texts of interest By the end of the lesson, most of the pupils will be able to respond imaginatively and intelligibly through LEARNING OBJECTIVES creating simple picture stories, simple poems and cartoon stories. SUCCESS CRITERIA Pupils can read independently for information and enjoyment. LANGUAGE / GRAMMAR FOCUS Tenses (Simple Past) Pre-lesson 1. Ask pupils to read the Anthology of Poem page 6. 2. Elicit the title of poem. (HOTS) Lesson delivery 3. Put up the pictures from the poem on the board (see next page). 4. Ask pupils to talk about the pictures. Suggested questions to stimulate discussion: (HOTS) 5. What animal can you see in this picture? ACTIVITIES 6. What is the boy doing here? 7. Divide pupils into 7 groups. 8. Each group will be given a stanza on a piece of manila card/A3 paper. 9. A representative from each group will come in front of the class and match their stanza to the correct picture on the board. (21ST CA) 10. Pupils recite the poem again with movement and actions. (CBA) Post-lesson 11. Have pupils show a smiley face to represent their feelings of the lesson.
