The function or goal of the Council is to support a bridge between the athletic and academic parts of the University. The Athletic Advisory Council (AAC) is composed of a representative from each College, a representative from the Faculty Senate; a representative from Student Affairs, two Coaches, two Student Athletes, and representatives from Athletic Administration. The FAR (faculty athletic representative) serves as the chair of the council. The appointments of the representatives from the Colleges, Faculty Senate, and Student Affairs are under the control of those groups. Appointments of student athletes and coaches fall under the control of athletics. The FAR now reports to the Provost.
