1. INTRODUCTION

1.1. PURPOSE

This Training Plan provides an outline for a comprehensive training program that will result
in Ministry of Defence Saudi Arabia’s Personnel competent to operate, maintain and
support selected Counter - Unmanned Air Systems (C-UAS), in the mobile role utilising the
Drone Gun Tactical (DGT).

This MTP is a living document and does not serve as a contract. It will change as required to
accommodate schedules and requirements, but once approved, any changes must be
coordinated through Unmanned Aerial Vehicle Directorate Program Management.
All questions and comments related to this document should be directed to UAVD.

1.2. SCOPE

The scope of the Training Plan is to outline the overall approach used to train C-UAS
program personnel to operate and maintain the Drone Gun Tactical C-UAS system. It will
also highlight extra training requirements for those personnel requiring
The level of training will be the first step leading to individual qualification in the duty
position. Additional On-the Job Training (OJT), flight training, certification or evaluation may
be required for instructor qualification. During the flight evaluation and certification phase,
the UAVD will require contractor support.

The DGT course is designed to train C-UAS operators how to maintain, operate and employ
the Drone Gun Tactical. The course will take DGT qualified personnel and expose them to
the use and tactics of the selected C-UAS system. The course graduate will be able to
operate DGT under normal operating conditions conducting routine tasks expected of the
system. In addition, the course will also provide graduates with the necessary skills and
system knowledge to develop tactical continuation training and enhance the tactical
awareness within their places of work.

The course will be facilitated by The DroneShield utilizing their organic instructors, all of
whom are experts in the C-UAS, domains. The course will be capable of running in
accordance with the demands and wishes of the MOD. Once started, the timescale will be
dictated by the manufacturer training segment. All courses shall be modular in composition
comprising academic and practical instruction and assessment.

2. ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

2.1. INTERNAL VALIDATION (INVAL).

The conduct of InVal is the responsibility of the Training Organisation, which involves
personnel from a range of backgrounds including Instructors and Students.

2.2. INSTRUCTORS.

Course instructors have a responsibility for day to day management of the InVal process,
including management of the assessment strategies and feedback mechanisms used on the
course. Course instructors also inform the InVal process through the provision of post
course feedback.

2.3. STUDENTS

Course students provide the primary source of feedback, through both test results and
feedback. The information is gathered through the completion of stage and through a Post
Course Discussion

2.4. COURSE TRAINING FOLDER

The record folder is to be completed and updated by the instructor after each working day.
It provides invaluable information on the student’s attendance, attitude and progress and
acts as a permeant record of their shortcomings and shortfalls.

3. COURSE ENTRY REQUIREMENT & PREREQUISITES

The DGT C-UAS course is aimed at personnel within operations that have been selected as a
suitable candidate to train on the DGT system. The contractor recognises that the current
incumbent personnel in Kingdom od Saudi Arabia are from different backgrounds and job
roles and therefore the prerequisites of the students are broad
Student prerequisites are as follows:

3.1 DGT Operator

a) All Ranks
b) Medically Fit (eye sight 6/6)
c) Job Role in Security operations

3.2 DGT Instructor

a) Holds Rank of Sergeant or above


b) Medically fit (eye sight 6/6)
c) Job role in security operations
d) Recommended for instructional duties

4. STRATEGY & APPROACH

4.1. COURSE AIM

The aim of the course is to train DGT C-UAS operators how to maintain, operate and employ
system. The course will take appropriately qualified personnel and expose them to the
intricacies of C-UAS. The course graduate will be able to operate DGT C-UAS under normal
operating conditions conducting routine tasks expected of the system and also during
emergencies that are inherent within any nuisance drones or UAS. In addition, the course
will also provide graduates with the necessary skills and platform knowledge to develop
continuation training and enhance awareness within their places of work.
In particular the graduates will gain the following skill sets:

a) Demonstrate the ability to assemble the DGT from a packaged state ensuring that it
is fit for Operations.
b) Demonstrate the ability to maintain the DGT.
c) Demonstrate the ability to understand commercial of the shelf (COTS) operating
parameters
d) Demonstrate the ability to plan and execute various C-UAS missions.
e) Demonstrate the ability to operate in a C-UAS team environment.
f) Demonstrate the ability to operate the DGT in a safe manner
g) Demonstrate the ability to exploit UAS data using CFID system
h) Demonstrate an understanding of the primary operations, functions and missions
conducted by C-UAS operators, specifically in the following:
a. An in-depth knowledge of the system capability of the DGT.
b. A working knowledge of the manner in which the C-UAS may be employed.

4.3. TRAINING SOURCES

Drone Gun Tactical training has been developed in-house by DroneShield’s training experts
for a commercially available of the shelf solution. DroneShield believe that this training fits
within the requirements set by MOD. DroneShield are committed to provide an in-house
developed training program that may suit changes in requirements by MOD.

4.4. DELIVERY METHOD

Drone Gun Tactical trainings delivery will be fully flexible to meet the needs of the MOD.
The training will be conducted primarily in English, Arabic instruction will be on hand
throughout each course, dependant on the English level of the students attending the
course. Training will be delivered in multiple formats to suit the environment that the
Instructors are given, based on the location and facilities available.

5. TRAINING RESOURCES

5.1. MATERIALS

Drone shield shall develop, produce and deliver C-UAS Operations and maintenance
courseware / curriculum and student materials in MOD training format.
Courseware curriculum and student materials shall be provided to support the objective of
training to provide the necessary skills to operate and maintain DGT C-UAS systems and
related support equipment. The intent of the deliverable will be to provide the students a
thorough understanding of the DGT so that at the end of their training, they can perform
tasks independently as identified in the courseware curriculum.

In parallel with the preparation and delivery of the above generic training courses, the
courses need to be approved by the MOD.

5.2. STAFFING

DroneShield will ensure that all staff provided will be capable of performing their duties to
the highest quality expected by MOD. Drone shield training support team are highly skilled
with past military or technical experience and will display constant professionalism
throughout. The training team will be familiar with local customs and will be respectful of
these customs at all times.

5.3. EQUIPMENT

DroneShield will provide the necessary equipment to its training team to ensure that the
highest quality of training is possible. DroneShield will provide equipment for its team to set
up a mobile classroom to ensure the full spectrum of training can be completed in the most
remote training sites. The following equipment will be provided:

a) 4 Computers / Laptops
b) 4 Small projectors
c) 4 Projector Screen
d) 4 Drone Gun Tactical systems
e) 2 sets of spare batteries per DGT system
f) 4 Speakers
g) 8 Drones and associated spares
h) 8 handheld radios
i) 2 desert awnings for Field training

5.4. ENVIRONMENT

The DroneShield training team are highly experienced and are capable conducting training
suitable to the needs of the customer. Field training or classroom training is well within the
training scope. The training team are capable of providing training in extreme conditions
from – 15oC to +55oC, however It is recommended that to enhance students learning
abilities it is recommended that the following facilities are provided:

a) Airconditioned classroom
b) Projector screen
c) Toilet and wash facilities
d) 240 V DC power
e) Projector
f) Messing facilities
g) Fridge

It is expected that MOD will provide suitable and safe areas to conduct DGT training free
from civil airfields with Geofenced restrictions in the operation of COTS Drones/UAS
MOD will ensure coordination amongst Site security services as to avoid security incidents.

6. TRAINING SCHEDULE

The DGT C-UAS course has been designed to the training needs of a C-UAS operator. The
course is designed to provide the knowledge in all systems and subsystems to enhance
security and to exploit nuisance Drone operator’s information.
The course outline is flexible to the needs of the MOD and can be changed to reflect
updated information or schedules of the MOD students.
