Since COVID 19 outbreak started and resulting econimic crisis has brought some students unusal challenges to

higher education. Educational institutions all across the world are turning to online learning platforms to continue
the process of educating students. One of the challenges that several students are currently facing is being
financial unstable and have a negative impact to them, they’re struggling and having trouble with their finances
due to some conflict.The financial deficit was further exacerbated by the COVID 19 experienced by almost
the entire world.Hence, the financial ramifications of the shift to online learning have been a major concern for
higher education institution.Financial problems begin with the inability to provide or neccesary basic needs
and couldn’t afford some resources that required for distance learning due to lack of fund. Due to a lack of
funds, a poor student faces challenges and problems taking online classes. The fianacial instability makes
student learning more difficult to adjust in online learning and might affect their online learning experience.

This research wants to explore and investigate more behind the lack of fund and fiancial problems of the
students currently experience that might affect their academic performace

Financial problems are commonly faced by everyone, especially for those who come from underprivileged or low-income
families. According to Asri, Abu Bakar, Laili and Saad (2017), stated that although students do not have a commitment on
paying monthly debt instalments like other households, however, their status as students requires them to pay their education
fees, rents and other essentials, by which they received the financial from loans, scholarships or their families. In addition,
students who come from underprivileged or low-income families might affect their academic performance. Many past
research has been done to show a relationship between financial problems and the students' academic performance.

The survey of DEPed (Departmentof Education) (2020) reported that most of the students suffer from low
income, low financial literacy, compulsive spending tendencies, and high debt levels.

Data from The Borgen project (2019) indicate that 16.6% of the population of the Philippines, or about 17.6
million people, live under the poverty line that few students might difficult to adjust in distance learning.
Daud, Norwani and Yusof (2018) mentioned that most educational systems across the world have migrated to
remote learning modality as a measure against the spread of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). This
means that the biggest problem That many students encountered right now is the lack of financial support ,
this problem complicate the life of students to Adjust in the new Learning system which is some students find
it difficult.

Furthermore, financial problems lead to various problems that will eventually affect the students academic
performance. Another way financial problems could affect the students' academic performance is stated by
Widener (2017), in order to overcome the financial problems, most students make a decision of having to work
part-time and even working for a long horse, which takes away their time focusing on their academics. Hence,
having a part-time job leads to a lack of studying, taking less credit hours and also poor attendance resulting in
their poor academic performance.
According to Asri et al. (2017), the students who come from underprivileged socio-economic status families are
often constrained by problems such as needing to work to help their families, incapable of buying learning
materials that will ultimately impact their academic performance. By juggling between jobs and academics, some
students have to struggle to overcome and
manage their financial problems. This affects their academic performance as they have to divide their focus and
attention between work and their academics.

Financial problem among students have a great impact to their academic experincce whuch could have a
negative impact to their performance. This pandemic has undoubtedly reshaped and pushed the educational
system to its limits.However, this unprecendented event is the same thing that will make the educational
system stronger and survive future threats.This research wants to explore and investigate more behind the lack
of fund and fiancial problems of the students currently experience that might affect their academic
performace.To expand this research, researchers may further investiagate this area and explore more to this
problem and also to provide strategies to overcome the challenges

nowadays are not able to earn money in order to provide daily needs. There are students who are "Working
Students" they randomly work to buy things for their studies because their families can't afford to buy it.There
are Various students who couldn't attend Online classes because they don't have gadgets to use. Financial
problems are one of the biggest problem of many students across the world.

greater impact on low-income students, whereby approximately 6 million students took a part-time job, and most

are women, Blacks and Latinos.

manage their financial problems. This affects their academic performance as they have to divide their focus and
attention between work and their academics.
