CALCULATIONS :- (a) Molarity of the KMnO 4 solution.
From the over all balanced chemical equation, it is clear that 2 moles of KMnO 4 reacts with 10 moles of
Mohr’s salt
M1 V1 2
(1) M 2 V2 10
M1 19.7 2 Where :-
(2) 1 10 1
20 M1 = Molarity of Mohr’s soln.= M
20 20
2 1 2 V1 = Volume of Mohr’s soln. = 20 ml
(3) M1
10 19.7 10 19.7 M2 = Molarity of KMnO4 soln.= ?
= 0.0101 M V2 = Volume of KMnO4 soln.= 19.7 ml
Strength = M1 × Molars Mass
= 0.0101 × 158 = 1.79 g/L
