Hyland, a Woodstock, Ga., native played defensive back for Morehead State from 2005-08. He was a three-time All-PFL selection (2006, 2007, 2008) and was recognized as a Sports Network Mid-Major All-American and Football Gazette Mid-Major All-American in 2007.
Hyland holds the Morehead State record for career interceptions with 21, and he had the single-season record for interceptions in a season with eight prior to it being broken in 2015. Hyland finished career with 167 tackles and a then-FCS-record 61 pass break-ups. He holds the school record for the longest interception return with a 100-yard return against Campbell in hs final game. He also finished his career with 12 receptions for 155 yards on offense.
He landed with the Oklahoma City Yard Dawgz of the Arena Football League in 2010 and was named Rookie of the Year and the team's Defensive MVP. He then moved on for a two-year move to the Canadian Football League, where he played for the British Columbia Lions and Hamilton Tiger-Cats. He returned to Arena ball, playing two seasons with the Utah Blaze, two with the San Jose SaberCats and two for the Jacksonville Sharks. With San Jose in 2015, he won an ArenaBowl title and was picked as Defensive Player of the Game and Ironman of the Game.
