Mike Ishmael was a four-year starter for the Eagle baseball team from 1983-86. He was an outstanding shortstop for MSU.
Ishmael’s best season came during his senior year (1986) when he was named the team Most Valuable Player, All-OVC, and College Sports Information Directors of America Academic All-American. He was also selected all-conference during his sophomore and junior campaigns. His best batting average also came during his senior season with an impressive .363 total.
The Flemingsburg (Ky.) native, Ishmael decided to return home after his playing days at Morehead State to be a part of the local school systems. He is currently serving as a board member for Fleming County school board.
