Julie (Magrane) Muntz played basketball for the women’s team at Morehead State from 1988-92. She is a member of the elite 1,000 point club.
At the time of her induction, Muntz ranked third on the all-time scoring list with 1,697 points (fifth currently). She also still ranks fourth on the all-time rebounding list with 1,034. Other all-time rankings include: seventh in field goals made with 597, first in free throw made with 502, and 10th in steals with 131. She led the Eagles in scoring in 1989-90 and in rebounding for three years (1989-92).
Muntz was selected to the All-Ohio Valley Conference First-Team as a senior. She was also named Honorable Mention All-OVC as a junior. She was the OVC Athlete of the Week and the Freshman of the Week on two occasions.
A native of Morehead, Ky., Muntz is the daughter of long time MSU professor David Magrane. Her brother Joe was a long-time analyst for MLB Network and was also a veteran Major League pitcher for the St. Louis Cardinals. He helped the Cardinals win the 1987 NL pennant.
