Doug Bentz played basketball at Morehead State from 1988-93. He was a four-year letterman and earned all-Ohio Valley Conference honors his junior and senior years.
A native of Marietta, Ohio, Bentz amassed 1,426 points which ranked 13th on the MSU’s all-time scoring list at the time of his induction. He also collected 808 career rebounds which ranked eighth on MSU’s all-time rebounding list.
Bentz was declared a medical redshirt during his junior season due to a collapsed lung he suffered during a preseason practice. He came back stronger than ever, posting 16.1 points per game the season after his injury and posting an average of 20.7 during his senior year.
Bentz graduated Morehead with a bachelor’s degree in business and went on to get his master’s degree at Ohio University in health care administration. He is currently the Chief Executive Officer at Roane General Hospital in Spencer, West Virginia.
