Ed Wells played football and was a member of the track & field cross country team at Morehead State from 1953-56. He was the captain of the track team that won the Ohio Valley Conference in 1955 and 1956.

A native of Millersburg, Ky., Wells was a top sprinter in the 100-yard dash, 200-yard dash, 220-yard low hurdles and in relays. In football, Wells lettered all four years and led the team in rushing for the team his junior and senior year.

After graduating from MSU, Wells went on to be a top national track and field official. In addition to being inducted in the MSU Hall of Fame, he is also in the Florida Track Hall of Fame. Wells continued his interest in track and field and football by becoming an administrator and coach at Clearwater High School in Florida. He led the school to more than 100 victories on the gridiron and track.

Wells passed away on Oct. 15, 2006.
