Diane Wetherill was a four-year letterwinner of the track and field and of the cross country teams at Morehead State from 1977-80. She guided the MSU women’s cross country squad to the team title at the first Ohio Valley Conference championship meet in 1979. Wetherill finished second individually at the 1979 OVC Cross Country Championships and crossed the tape in eighth place as a senior.
Wetherill was named All-OVC in 1979 as a junior and in 1980 as a senior. She qualified for the Association for Intercollegiate Athletics for Women (AIAW-the precursor to the NCAA for women’s collegiate athletics) national championships as a freshman, sophomore, and junior. In 1980, her senior season, the team won the Kentucky Women's Intercollegiate Conference (KWIC) title and she was named KWIC Most Valuable Runner.
A native of Islip Terrace, N.Y., Wetherill is employed by Rowan University in New Jersey as an instructor in the health science department.
